Strong links between The Business School and the Royal Logistic Corps

Posted on

The Business School has this year forged strong links with the Royal Logistic Corps and particularly with the Logistic Specialist (Supply) trade

We provide courses via our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which allows serving personnel access to all the required material and assignments at anytime and anywhere. It also allows them access to our expert tutors, all of whom have considerable expertise and military experience. They are also still employed in the industry and absolutely current in their knowledge.

We are an approved centre for The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in the UK, which is the UK territorial body of CILT, and which has a presence in more than 30 countries across the world. This network of members and contacts can connect all CILT members wherever they are in the world and constitutes the greatest resource of professional expertise within our areas of interest. All RLC learners on our courses become members of CILT and can therefore access this huge resource at no extra cost.

We have mapped qualifications against courses run by the RLC commencing at Level 2 for those just starting in their trade, through to Level 5 for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers. This means that the career pathway within military service is matched to a professional development pathway through the qualifications.

We have developed systems in collaboration with the School at Deepcut so that as soon as a military course is finished, learners can start to work on their professional qualifications.

The key element, however, is that the successful completion of the military course means that learners only have to study the parts they need to fill relevant commercial gaps! Thus saving time, money and energy – our courses represent great value for money for serving personnel, especially as Standard Learning Credits can be used towards payment for the course.

This is a ‘win-win’ situation for all concerned. RLC support personnel through their professional development framework and military personnel gain professional qualifications at a much lower cost whilst learning at their own pace.

Both Regular and Reservist personnel, and those who have successfully completed previous courses, can access our programmes. We are also now working with other trades to develop similar programmes.
